The Stockton Symphony held its annual meeting at the Stockton Hilton on June 22 and elected new members and officers for its 2010-11 fiscal year.
Roger Sitkin, owner and farmer of Old Dog Ranch in Linden, was elected vice president of education. Gene Acevedo, owner of the Bilingual Weekly and community outreach director of Hospice of San Joaquin, was elected vice president of marketing. Dan Terry, diagnostic and international radiologist, was elected treasurer.
Continuing officers are Mike Whelan, president; Nancy Schneider, vice president of fund development; Patrick Catania, vice president of governance; and Maury Marengo, secretary.
The symphony is pleased to announce that five new community leaders have been elected to its Board of Directors.
Combined, these new directors represent decades of leadership in business and the Stockton community as well as a passion for symphonic music.
New directors include Acevedo; Doug Hunt, retired faculty of Pacific's Conservatory of Music and musician liaison to the symphony board since 2000; Bonner Mendez, manager/partner of MWW Family Partnership; Gerald Oliver, president of International Development Institute, Inc.; and Joe Sublett, retired corporate president of Enviroplex, Inc.
"As we enter our 84th year of consecutive operation, the Stockton Symphony has the potential to reach even greater artistic heights, to educate even more young people, and to become an organization that reflects and serves the entire community. I look forward in the next year to working with the Board on these grand goals," said Jane E. Kenworthy, executive director and chief executive officer of the Stockton Symphony, in a news release.
The Stockton Symphony Board of Directors gratefully acknowledges and extends many thanks to outgoing board members Max Bojko, Janet Bonner, Dwane Milnes, Donna Roberts, and Sandra Greenleaf for their years of dedicated service.
